SPEAKER_00: So happy to have you and be with me as we connect again on this episode on the Warriors Haven.
SPEAKER_00: And I'm just so happy and grateful that we get to just hang out for a little bit and talk.
SPEAKER_00: And on this episode, I really want to have this conversation on why most people never really actually change.
SPEAKER_00: And so I want to connect with you and have you on this journey with me.
SPEAKER_00: So let me start with asking you something.
SPEAKER_00: And I want you to answer this honestly in your head.
SPEAKER_00: What is one thing you've been saying you're going to change, but you haven't?
SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's your energy, your weight, your money, your consistency.
SPEAKER_00: And now here's the real question.
SPEAKER_00: Why not?
SPEAKER_00: Because it's not that you don't know what to do.
SPEAKER_00: Most people know drink more water, move your body, save money, go to bed earlier.
SPEAKER_00: So why are millions of people stuck doing the same things year after year?
SPEAKER_00: Today, I'm gonna break this down for all of us using real psychology, real brain science, and real data.
SPEAKER_00: And by the end of this episode, you just won't understand why you're stuck.
SPEAKER_00: You'll know exactly what to do about it.
SPEAKER_00: So let's start with something simple.
SPEAKER_00: Your brain is always asking one question: How can I use the least amount of energy right now?
SPEAKER_00: This is called energy conservation.
SPEAKER_00: And it's been studied heavily at Yale University, where researchers found that your brain will default to the easiest behavior, even if it's the wrong one.
SPEAKER_00: Let's make this real.
SPEAKER_00: You say you're going to work out after work, but when you get home, you sit down, you scroll your phone, you tell yourself you'll go later.
SPEAKER_00: And then you don't.
SPEAKER_00: That's not because you're weak, that's because your brain is choosing easy over effort.
SPEAKER_00: Now, here's where it gets crazy.
SPEAKER_00: A study from Princeton University showed that when humans are given two choices, one that gives a small reward now and one that gives a bigger reward later, over 70% of people chose the small reward now.
SPEAKER_00: So when you skip the workout or eat the fast food or avoid the hard conversation, you're not choosing what's best.
SPEAKER_00: You're choosing what's immediate.
SPEAKER_00: I want you to think about this.
SPEAKER_00: Where in your life are you choosing easy instead of better?
SPEAKER_00: Now let's talk about something most people have never heard of.
SPEAKER_00: It's called synaptic pruning, and it comes from neuroscience research at Stanford University.
SPEAKER_00: Here's the simple version: your brain is constantly cutting away connections you don't use.
SPEAKER_00: Think of it like this: your brain is a garden.
SPEAKER_00: The thoughts and actions you repeat, they grow stronger.
SPEAKER_00: The ones you don't, they get cut off.
SPEAKER_00: So if you say, I want to be consistent, but you don't practice consistency, your brain literally starts deleting the pathways for it.
SPEAKER_00: That's why starting over feels so hard.
SPEAKER_00: You're not just getting back on track, you're rebuilding something your brain already removed.
SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you something.
SPEAKER_00: What habits have you stopped doing that used to make you feel like your best self?
SPEAKER_00: Because your brain didn't forget them, it just stopped prioritizing them.
SPEAKER_00: Now, friends, we need to talk about stress because this one right here, this is why a lot of people never change.
SPEAKER_00: When you're stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol.
SPEAKER_00: And according to research from the Cleveland Clinic, high cortisol levels do three major things.
SPEAKER_00: Reduce your decision-making ability, increase cravings for sugar and comfort foods, shut down long-term thinking.
SPEAKER_00: So when you're overwhelmed, you don't think about the future.
SPEAKER_00: You think about relief.
SPEAKER_00: That's why after a stressful day, people say, I deserve this.
SPEAKER_00: And they go straight to food, alcohol, scrolling, avoidance.
SPEAKER_00: Not because they don't care about their goals, but because their brain is trying to escape pressure.
SPEAKER_00: So let's do a quick check-in.
SPEAKER_00: When you're stressed, what do you run to?
SPEAKER_00: Because that pattern, that's not random, that's trained.
SPEAKER_00: Now, this one right here, this is the biggest one.
SPEAKER_00: There's a concept in psychology called self-concept, and it's studied at the University of Michigan.
SPEAKER_00: Your self-concept is the story you believe about who you are.
SPEAKER_00: And here's the truth: you will always act in a way that matches that story.
SPEAKER_00: If you believe I'm inconsistent, you will prove it.
SPEAKER_00: If you believe I always quit, you will repeat it.
SPEAKER_00: Even if you want to change, your brain will pull you back to what feels familiar.
SPEAKER_00: So now let me ask you this.
SPEAKER_00: What is the story you keep telling yourself that might be keeping you stuck?
SPEAKER_00: So let's shift.
SPEAKER_00: Because I don't want you just aware, I want you equipped.
SPEAKER_00: Let's make it obvious.
SPEAKER_00: This comes from behavioral research on Q visibility.
SPEAKER_00: If you can't see it, you won't do it.
SPEAKER_00: Want to drink more water?
SPEAKER_00: Put it in front of you.
SPEAKER_00: Want to work out?
SPEAKER_00: Lay out your clothes.
SPEAKER_00: Your environment should remind you of who you're becoming.
SPEAKER_00: Let's lower the entry point.
SPEAKER_00: This is backed by behavior research from the University of Toronto.
SPEAKER_00: People are more likely to start when something feels easy.
SPEAKER_00: Instead of saying, I'm going to change everything, say I'm going to start small.
SPEAKER_00: One workout becomes five minutes.
SPEAKER_00: One healthy meal becomes one better choice.
SPEAKER_00: Because starting creates momentum, and momentum creates change.
SPEAKER_00: Then track your wins.
SPEAKER_00: This comes from motivation research at the Dominican University of California.
SPEAKER_00: People who write down and track progress are forty-two percent more likely to reach their goals.
SPEAKER_00: Why?
SPEAKER_00: Because your brain needs proof.
SPEAKER_00: So every day, ask yourself: what did I do right today?
SPEAKER_00: Even if it's small.
SPEAKER_00: Let me leave you with this.
SPEAKER_00: You're not stuck because you lack discipline.
SPEAKER_00: You're stuck because your brain has learned a pattern and it's been repeating it.
SPEAKER_00: But patterns can be broken.
SPEAKER_00: Not with motivation, not with pressure, but with understanding and small actions repeated daily.
SPEAKER_00: So today, don't try to change your whole life.
SPEAKER_00: Change one decision, one moment, one action.
SPEAKER_00: Because the people who change aren't the ones who go all in.
SPEAKER_00: They're the ones who keep showing up, even when it's small.
SPEAKER_00: If this episode hit you, please share it with someone who's been stuck in the same cycle.

SPEAKER_00: Let's bring awareness.
SPEAKER_00: Then let's implement for the plan to make the change.
SPEAKER_00: Let's get the momentum in momentum, create the change.
SPEAKER_00: I really hope this episode was educational.
